A BRIGHTER FUTURE FOR CHILDREN WITH DISABILITIES

Imagine being told that you should not start a savings account for your child. Did you know prior to 2014, parents were not able to start a savings account for their child with a disability? A savings or personal property valuing more than $2,000.00 would risk making their child ineligible for special benefits like Social Security or Title 19 funding. These funding sources are crucial for maintaining the safety and wellbeing of a person with a disability.

The Luke Stone IllumiNATION Fund is proud to report it is the first charity in the nation focused on awarding funding to children and transitioning adults with disabilities through an ABLE account.

The LSIF is dedicated to the advancement of societal wellbeing through the investment and inclusion of individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.

Whether intentional or not, people with disabilities are often excluded from tertiary education and employment opportunities. Sadly, this limits the community involvement of many folks that have much to offer in the work force and society. The LSIF hopes to encourage positive future planning of young children and transitioning adults with disabilities.

What does the LSIF do?

We provide a monetary investment into an ABLE account, which is a direct contribution to the future of the individual that is selected. Each year one child or transitioning adult will be selected to receive a one-time monetary award of $1,000 dollars deposited into their WVABLE account. Parents of children with a disability understand the fear of the future and what will happen to their child once he or she turns eighteen. Or even worse, what will happen when they are no longer around to care for their child? The future is filled with unknowns and the LSIF is dedicated to supporting positive discussions about the future. For so long families have been fearful of saving due to losing benefits. LSIF understands that fear and we encourage you to reach out to someone at WVABLE to get additional information related to having a WVABLE account.

A Broader Mission

The LSIF aspires to raise awareness of the struggles of those with disabilities and their families. We will share the stories of our recipients and their amazing paths of resilience and triumph! If you are looking for everyday heroes, stay tuned to our future additions to the website!
